loureiro's initial forays into the world of art were guided by his friend antónio josé da costa, under whose tutelage he first learned the basics of drawing and painting. he later attended the escola superior de belas-artes do porto, where he studied under the mentorship of joão antónio correia.a journey across continents
- **rome (1875)**: with the support of his patron, delfim guedes, loureiro ventured to rome, broadening his artistic horizons. - **paris (1879)**: he moved to paris on a scholarship, studying at the école des beaux-arts and becoming a part of the latin quarter's vibrant art scene. - **australia (1884)**: eventually, he emigrated to australia with his wife, marie huybers, settling in melbourne and contributing to the local art community.notable works and achievements
