He continued his education at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca, graduating in 2001.

He doesn't rely on traditional painting tools like brushes; instead, he favors palette knives and stencils, creating textured, layered surfaces. His canvases often appear gnawed, slashed, blurred, and speckled, reflecting the fragmented nature of memory and history. Ghenie’s work frequently grapples with complex themes of history, trauma, and collective memory.
