His journey began not amidst artistic circles, but within the practical realm of his father’s silk-dyeing business. This early exposure to color and
pattern would subtly inform his later work, imbuing it with a distinctive vibrancy. Even as a young boy, however, Kuniyoshi was captivated by the dramatic world of *ukiyo-e*, particularly the heroic imagery of warriors and artisans that populated popular prints.
