wendy sharpe is an australian artist born in sydney in 1960. she is known for her figurative and expressive works that observe and celebrate the human condition. sharpe has held over 70 solo exhibitions in australia, france, germany, china, and the uk, and her work is part of public and private collections throughout australia. she won the archibald prize in 1996 and the portia geach memorial prize twice. sharpe is also an official australian war artist, having served in east timor in 1999-2000. she divides her time between her studios in sydney and paris.
