A Legacy of Layered Narratives
Born in 1967 and currently based in the vibrant cultural landscape of Lyon, Laurent Picard has established himself as a contemporary visionary whose work orchestrates a profound dialogue between eras. His practice is defined by a meticulous approach to collage and mixed media, where he expertly assembles layered fragmented visual narratives that challenge the viewer's perception of time and space. By weaving together disparate textures and historical echoes, Picard creates a sense of chromatic harmony that resonates with both classical elegance and modern urgency.
The Art of Materiality
At the heart of Picard's oeuvre lies an obsession with materiality; his compositions are not merely images but tactile explorations of depth. Through the strategic use of multiple materials and found elements, he achieves a luminous depth that invites close inspection. This intricate layering process ensures that each piece possesses a structural complexity, where every fragment serves as a vital component in a larger, cohesive story of human experience and aesthetic evolution.
