A Life Shaped by Light and Line Théodore Fourmois began his path in the quietude of Presles, Belgium. His early years were defined by a hands-on education in the lithographic workshop of Antoine Dewasme-Pletinckx in Brussels. This technical foundation in drawing provided the precision that would later define his approach to the natural world. By 1836, he was already showing his work in Brussels, marking the start of a long career dedic
ated to capturing the essence of the landscape. His eyes were often turned toward the rugged beauty of the Ardennes and the Campine. He sought out the specific qualities of light in these regions, moving beyond the rigid formulas of his predecessors.
