In 1938, he painted a fresco in the Normal School of Santa Clara. Later on in his life, he directed the “Escuela de Artes Plástica” in Camagüey which to date carries his name. Jorge Arche died in Cádiz in 1957.- Early Life and Career: Jorge Arche’s formative years were marked by exposure to European artistic traditions, particularly those championed by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. His studies at San Alejandro solidified these influences, fostering a stylistic approach characterized by vibrant color palettes and expressive brushstrokes—a deliberate departure from the academic conventions prevalent at the time.

Their manifesto declared a rejection of formal conventions and an insistence on capturing the essence of Cuban life—a bold assertion that propelled Grupo de los Once to the forefront of Cuban modernism.- Rejection of Academic Tradition: Grupo de los Once vehemently opposed the rigid stylistic doctrines of academic painting, prioritizing emotional intensity and subjective experience over technical precision.
