      Jerry Gordon Zucker, born November 11, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is an American film producer, director, and writer. He graduated from Shorewood High School and later attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His paternal grandfather, Leonard Zucker, emigrated from Russia to the United States and became a naturalized citizen, a detail that speaks to the family’s immigrant history.

      The Kentucky Fried Theater Roots

      Zucker's early career blossomed with Jim Abrahams and his brother, David Zucker, performing as a sketch and comedy troupe called the Kentucky Fried Theater in Madison, Wisconsin. This formative experience honed their unique comedic sensibilities – fast-paced, absurd, and reliant on parody – which would become hallmarks of their later work. The group’s live performances laid the groundwork for their distinctive filmmaking style.

      Breakthrough with Parody Films
