charles lamb, an irish painter, was born on august 30, 1893, in portadown, county armagh. his early life was marked by a deep inclination towards art, which was further nurtured by his father, john lamb, a painter and decorator. this familial influence led charles to initially apprentice under his father, winning the gold medal as housepainter of the year in 1913.artistic education and influences
charles's artistic journey took him to the belfast school of art, where he studied life drawing. he later secured a teaching scholarship that brought him to the dublin metropolitan school of art for four years, placing him under the mentorship of renowned artist seán keating. this period significantly shaped his artistic style, which would later be characterized by academic realism.artistic career and notable works
