Though initially drawn to formal education, attending the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva at seventeen, she quickly recognized its limitations, believing true artistry stemmed from individual expression rather than rigid doctrine. This early rejection of convention foreshadowed a career marked by constant experimentation and a refusal to be categorized. Early studies under Hugues Bovy and Denise Sarkiss provided technical grounding, but Bailly’s restless spirit soon led her beyond the confines of Swiss academia.
