Leo Friedlander

The Sculptor of Monumental Grace Leo Friedlander stands as a profound figure in the lineage of American sculpture, a master whose hands breathed life into bronze and marble to create works of enduring grandeur. Born in New York City in 1888, Friedlander’s journey into the heart of the plastic arts began with an almost precocious intensity; by the age of twelve, he was already participating in the prestigious Art Students League. This early immersion in the creative atmosphere of New York laid the foundation for a life dedicated to the rigorous pursuit of classical excellence. His path was not merely one of local talent but of a global education that sought the very roots of sculptural tradition.
