This early immersion in craftsmanship provided the technical bedrock upon which she would later build her radical experiments. Enrolling at the Ontario College of Art—now known as OCAD University—Astman began to cultivate a vision that transcended mere representation, seeking instead to capture the very texture of thought and memory.
