A Life in Color and Faith
Simon Goser was a painter from Germany, born in Bad Wurzach. His career spanned the late Baroque and early Classicism periods, leaving a significant mark on the religious and secular spaces of the Breisgau region. He was a member of the "zum Riesen" painters' guild in Freiburg and lived in a house on Konviktstraße. His artistic legacy includes extensive work in various churches and palaces, such as the ceiling paintings in Schloss Munzingen and the Capitular Hall in St. Peter.
His work often involved large-scale commissions, including frescoes and altarpieces. In 1780, he assisted Johann Christian Wentzinger with the decoration of the dome of the St. Blasien Cathedral. Goser's later years were marked by collaborative efforts, such as a mural of the Last Supper created with his son, Johannes, in the Pfründhauskapelle.

His mastery is evident in the frescoes of the Fürstensaal, which feature scenes such as Jesus at the meal in the house of Simon of Bethany and the washing of the feet at the Last Supper.
