Born in London, Wynfield’s formative years were shaped by exposure to both military discipline and the vibrant intellectual
currents of Victorian society. Notably, he was a nephew of Sir David Wilkie RA, whose legacy would profoundly influence Wynfield's artistic sensibilities.
