The Architectural Visions of Wilhelm Schubert van Ehrenberg
Wilhelm Schubert van Ehrenberg was a Flemish painter primarily active in Antwerp. He specialized in architectural paintings, creating depictions of real and imaginary church interiors, Renaissance palaces, and picture galleries. His work often featured a preference for the fantastic and the pathetic, utilizing light-dark contrasts and the inclusion of staffage, which often consisted of almost dwarfish figures.
