rogelio josé polesello, an argentine painter, muralist, and sculptor, was born on july 26, 1939, in buenos aires. he studied at the escuela nacional de bellas artes manuel belgrano and the escuela nacional de bellas artes prilidiano pueyrredón in buenos aires.career and style
polesello is best known for introducing op art (or optical art) to latin america. his work, characterized by its use of geometric shapes and bold colors, was heavily influenced by his background in graphic and commercial design. he explored perceptual questions of transparency, multiplication, and movement across a range of work on paper and acrylic surfaces.- his method of building and patterning color is intrinsic to his op art style, which he developed throughout the 1960s.
- polesello's use of printing techniques, such as airbrushing and color transfer, enhanced the optical effects of light and color in his work.
