Lance Calkin (1859–1936): A Victorian Portraitist of Quiet Dignity

Lance Calkin, born in London in 1859, was the son of a musician and received a private education before pursuing artistic studies at the Slade School of Fine Art and subsequently graduating from the Royal Academy Schools.
