Little Girl Knitting

Daniel Garber (1880 – 1958)

Daniel Garber (1880-1958) foi um importante pintor impressionista americano da New Hope School, renomado por suas paisagens luminosas e cenas do Rio Delaware. Professor célebre na PAFA, sua obra está em grandes museus.

James A. Michener Art Museum (Doylestown, United States of America)

Houses preparation areas and collection storage spaces.

Although Daniel Garber is most widely known for his oil paintings, he created many works on paper, including drawings, pastels, and etchings that reveal his adeptness in using line to function tonally and explore surface effects and appearances. More than half of his works on paper are portraits and figure studies as opposed to landscape subjects. Little Girl Knitting was included in Garber’s solo exhibition at the Philadelphia Art Alliance in 1918 and in an exhibition of the artist’s drawings at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in 1920. The subject in this work is Garber’s daughter, Tanis.
