This pivotal transformation was sparked by his half-brother, Prefete Duffaut, who introduced him to the renowned Centre d’Art. Immersed in this creative hub for three years, Vital began to translate his observations of the world into a visual language that blended the tangible with the mystical.

In 1959, Vital returned to his roots in Jacmel, where the natural beauty surrounding his home by the river became a primary source of inspiration.
