De nauwe banden die Levy onderhield met Marcel Duchamp brachten hem in contact met grootheden als Man Ray en Berenice Abbott, wat uiteindelijk leidde tot de verwerving van een deel van het persoonlijke archief van Eugène Atget. In 1949 verhuisde Levy naar Connecticut, trouwde in 1958 met Jean Farley McLaughlin en gaf les aan het Sarah Lawrence College en de State University of New York at Purchase.
