Achille Etna Michallon was born in Paris, France, in 1796. He was the son of Claude Michallon, a sculptor. From a young age, he demonstrated artistic talent and received formal training under two prominent French painters: Jacques-Louis David and Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes.
