Jean-Antoine Houdon's marble sculpture Diana dates to about 1780. The work represents the Roman goddess of the hunt, depicted in a bust format that focuses on the head and shoulders. This specific rendition of the deity reflects the transition between the Rococo and Neoclassical styles prevalent during the late eighteenth century.

The subject matter draws from classical mythology, portraying the goddess through a lens of idealized form. Originally commissioned for Catherine of Russia, the piece later entered the collection of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. It is currently held at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
