(1981), au musée d’art de Milwaukee (1985), au Centro Nacional de Arte Moderna José Vasconcelos à Lisbonne, Portugal (1988) et une rétrospective centenaire au Musée Reading Public et à la Galerie Corcoran à Washington D.C. (1999). *Les jardins des Dieux I* furent parmi les cinq sculptures inaugurales du jardin sculpturale du Metropolitan Museum of Art. Il est mort le 4 décembre 1986 à Stamford, Connecticut, âgé de 89 ans, « l’un des sculpteurs américains les plus distingués du XXe siècle » (NY Times obituary, 12/5/86).
