Description de l'œuvre

The green herring grew hands and feet that sprung from its face. However, not content with merely having human features, it attempted to magically grow wings and become the Garuda, one of the eight Buddhist demi-gods, so that it could be worshiped along with Buddha in the Mahavira Hall by followers. The second frame is entitled “Tale of the Green Herring–Fish Transforms and has a Human Face with Glowing Eyes”. At this stage of its life, the green herring gradually acquired a human face, with golden light shining from its eyes.
