The Pulpit by Donatello emerged from the stone and the shared vision of a workshop. In 1438, the artist completed this marble structure, working alongside collaborators Michelozzo and Pagno di Laplo. The History and Location of the Reliefs

The stone figures arrived in 1438, a finished dance of marble and light. They have been moved from the open air to the protected stillness of the bishop’s palace, kept safe from the elements that once brushed against their carved surfaces.
