After studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts under Thomas Anshutz, he traveled to Paris to refine his craft at the Académie Julian. His life was a rhythmic movement between the American Northeast and the coast of England, specifically St Ives in Cornwall, where he lived much of his life with his wife, Muriel.
