Among his notable commissions were portraits of Henry Blackhall, mayor of Exeter; a copy of Reynolds’s depiction of John Rolle Walter; and a portrait of John Haddy James, surgeon. He collaborated with Samuel Cousins on “The Portrait of John Rashdall,” minister of Bedford Chapel, Exeter—a piece that served as a visual record of a prominent figure within Devon’s intellectual landscape.
