Beskrivelse af samlerobjektet

Based in Edinburg, Morgan is known for hispenchant for marrying unusual materials and experimental use of ancient processes. Presentin permanent collections such as London’s V&A Museum and Coburg’s European Museum of Modern Glass in Germany, he often explores the intrinsic personality of materials and the conflicting relationship between them.A marriage of contrasts, the duality of this pedestal runs deeper than mere materials. Referencing the brutality of architecture and Venetian murrine glass making, a dense mass of concrete sits atop of a block of individual glass filaments, each individually pulled from the furnace by hand. Juxtaposing the ambiguity of glass with the certainty of concrete creates silicate siblings with unique identities. The sequential structure binds these counterintuitive materials together, providing a solid reminder that both glass and concrete are made from the same elements.

Morgan’s breakout success arrived with “December Bride” (1954-1959), where he embodied Pete Porter, a charming and resourceful man navigating romance amidst wartime anxieties. This role established his knack for portraying relatable individuals facing challenging circumstances—a hallmark of his performances throughout his career. He continued to hone his craft in numerous films spanning genres like Westerns and dramas, earning critical acclaim and securing a loyal fanbase. His tenure on “Dragnet” (1967-1970) showcased his ability to deliver sharp dialogue and portray an honest police officer grappling with moral dilemmas. Yet, he achieved unparalleled recognition as Colonel Sherman T. Potter in “M*A*S*H” (1975–1983), a groundbreaking medical drama that tackled themes of war trauma and human compassion. Morgan’s portrayal of Potter—a pragmatic yet empathetic leader—became synonymous with the show's spirit, earning him Emmy Awards and cementing his place in television history. Following MASH, he reprised his role as Potter in “AfterMASH” (1983–1985), demonstrating his enduring commitment to iconic characters. Beyond his celebrated roles, Morgan’s influence extended across a vast array of films—over 100 productions—demonstrating an unwavering dedication to his craft and consistently delivering performances that resonated with audiences.
