Landscape (Daniel Sherrin) Et oliemalerie, malet i hånden kun til dig

A Serene Riverine Scene

A river flows through a landscape of stones and trees, creating a quiet, pastoral atmosphere. Figures are scattered throughout the composition, some positioned in the foreground while others recede into the distance. Above the water, birds are captured in flight, adding a sense of movement to the stillness. The scene presents an idyllic view of nature, where human presence and the natural world exist in a calm, balanced state.

Composition and Technique

The work reflects a transition from traditional realism toward a more rhythmic approach to form. The artist utilizes texture and color to define the environment, prioritizing the emotional weight of the scene over strict anatomical or geological precision. The arrangement of elements follows a specific logic:

• The placement of rocks within the river to guide the eye through the water.
• The use of trees on both banks to frame the central waterway.
• The distribution of human figures to establish scale and depth.
• The inclusion of avian figures to introduce life into the sky.

Artistic Context and Evolution

Daniel Sherrin’s approach to the landscape evolved significantly over his career. While his earlier focus leaned toward seascapes, his later works moved toward these terrestrial compositions. His style demonstrates a distillation of detail, stripping away the unnecessary to reveal the core of the subject. This method allows the brushstrokes to convey a sense of feeling, bridging the gap between literal representation and a more expressive, modern sensibility.
