clas edvard friström, also known as claes edward fristrom, was born on january 23, 1864, in karlskrona, sweden. this swedish artist and art teacher would later embark on a journey that not only spanned across continents but also left an indelible mark on the world of art.**the australian chapter (mid-1880s - 1903)**
after moving to brisbane, australia in the mid-1880s, friström married margaret johnston of south brisbane in 1886. this period marked the beginning of a significant chapter in his life, with the couple having three children together. * **teaching and exhibitions**: in 1903, upon moving to auckland, new zealand, friström taught at the elam school of fine arts and exhibited his works with the auckland society of artists.**the californian era (1915 - 1950)**
