His education at the Odesa Pedagogically Institute provided him with a classical foundation, yet his spirit was fundamentally uncontainable by academic formalism. Instead, he became a primary architect of the Ukrainian New Wave, a movement that sought to dismantle old dogmas in favor of raw, visceral expression. Through the co-founding of the theory of Transavantgard, Rojtburd helped forge a visual language that embraced the subconscious and the mythological, creating a bridge between the heavy weight of history and the experimental freedom of a post-Soviet landscape.
