His parents, a French mother and a German father, instilled within him an inherent curiosity about diverse cultures and perspectives, fostering a lifelong fascination with the interplay between tradition and innovation. From a young age, Arp demonstrated exceptional talent for drawing and painting, initially honing his skills at the École des Arts et Métiers in Strasbourg—a school renowned for its progressive approach to art education—before furthering his studies at Weimar Kunstschule and subsequently at the Académie Julian in Paris. These formative experiences exposed him to influential artistic movements of the time, including Impressionism and Cubism, laying the groundwork for his distinctive style.
