Early Life and Artistic Training Born in Versailles on 18 November 1907, Yves Brayer felt the pull of the brush and the charcoal from his earliest years. He had been drawing and painting since his childhood, a natural inclination that would eventually lead him away from the quiet streets of his birthplace toward the bustling centers of French art. This early affinity for visual expression was not a sudden discovery but a steady develop
ment that guided his youth. His formal education began in Bourges, where he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. This foundation prepared him for the more rigorous demands of the capital. In 1924, he moved to Paris to begin his studies at the academies in Montparnasse.
