Early Life and Training Born: October 25, 1865, in Bromberg (now Bydgoszcz), Germany Died: July 24, 1908, in Berlin, Germany Early life details are somewhat scarce. His father was a pharmacist and owner of a Kräuterlikör manufacturing plant. Studied briefly at the Prussian Academy of Art in Berlin (1883) but was dismissed for lack of talent.
