A Life Shaped by the Norwegian Landscape Anders Monsen Askevold entered the world in 1834 in Askvoll, Sunnfjord, Norway. He was born into a family of ten siblings, the second oldest, to a father who served as a teacher and a member of parliament. His early years were rooted in the quiet rhythms of his homeland, a connection that would later define his entire artistic output.
