A Modern Legacy of Pointillism
Born in 1972 and currently based in the historic cultural hub of Lille, Pauline Delorme has established herself as a premier voice in contemporary Neo-Impressionism. Her entire practice is a profound, meditative dialogue with the legacy of Théo van Rysselberghe, translating his Belgian mastery into a digital and physical medium for the modern era. Delorme does not merely mimic the past; she reinterprets the divisionist technique to explore the intersection of classical structure and contemporary light. Her palette is characterized by a refined, cool restraint, favoring silvery blues, lilacs, and sage over more aggressive hues, creating a sense of chromatic harmony that feels both timeless and fresh.
The Precision of the Gaze
Delorme's technical virtuosity lies in her obsessive application of tight, precise dots that coalesce into voluminous forms. Beneath this luminous surface of pointillist light, she employs careful tonal modeling to ensure her society portraits and coastal views possess a palpable weight and luminous depth. Whether working on the smooth surface of fine linen or through high-resolution digital formats, her work maintains a tactile silence. Each piece is a study in haute-bourgeoisie elegance, where the mechanical precision of the dot meets the soft, atmospheric beauty of the Belgian coast.
