Paul Nash, 11 Mayıs 1889 tarihinde Londra'da dünyaya geldi. Babası William Harry Nash bir avukattı; annesi Caroline Maude ise genç yaşlardan itibaren ruhsal hastalık belirtileri gösteriyordu. Paul henüz küçük bir çocukken, annesinin sağlığına iyi gelmesi amacıyla aile Buckinghamshire, Iver Heath'e taşındı.
Eğitim: Parsons Sanat Okulu ve daha sonra Slade Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi'nde eğitim gördü. Manzara resminde oldukça yetkin olmasına rağmen, figür çizimi konusunda zorluklar yaşadı.
