A heavy silence settles over the canvas. The Archbishop sits in a three-quarter pose, his body angled slightly away while his gaze drifts toward the left of the frame. The portrait presents an elderly gentleman, captured in a bust-length composition that emphasizes psychological depth. Positioned slightly off-center, the subject gazes toward the viewer's left, creating an intimate, quiet connection. The lighting is dramatic, utilizing a chiaroscuro effect where a strong light source from the upper left defines the facial structure, the texture of the white beard, and the deep wrinkles of age.
