Roland Williams (Hwfa Môn) (1823–1905), Cader Idris och Llangrannog: Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru / The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth har 23 av verken på denna sida.
Christopher David Williams (1873-1934) var en framstående walesisk konstnär vars karriär spänner över den sena viktorianska och tidiga 20:e århundradet. Han är särskilt minnesvärd för sina suggestiva porträtt, allegoriska scener och landskap som ofta återspeglar en stark känsla av walesisk identitet och andan i den keltiska revivalen.
Född i Maesygwrath, Wales, mötte Williams initialt motstånd från sin far, Evan Williams, som såg en medicinsk karriär för honom. Men ett omvälvande besök på Walker Art Gallery i Liverpool 1892, där han blev djupt berörd av Frederick Leightons *Perseus och Andromeda*, tände hans passion för konst. Denna upplevelse fastställde hans beslut att leva som konstnär. Han började sin formella konstutbildning vid Neath Technical Institute under Mr. Kerr 1892-1893.
Williams fortsatte sina studier på Royal College of Art i tre år, följt av ytterligare utbildning på Royal Academy Schools från 1896 till 1901. Hans konstnärliga utveckling var starkt influerad av Frederick Leighton, som inspirerade hans akademiska approach och uppmärksamhet på detaljer. Williams debuterade på Royal Academy 1902 med *Paolo och Francesca*, följt av en porträtt av sin far 1903. Han fortsatte att utställas där i åtta år, vilket bevisade hans etablering som konstnär. En avgörande händelse inträffade 1911 när kung George V beställde Williams att skapa en minnesmålning av investeringen av Edward, Prins av Wales vid Caernarfon Castle. Han skapade två versioner av detta viktiga verk, som nu finns i kungliga samlingar.
Han blev också en eftertraktad porträttist och skapade porträtt av framstående personer som David Lloyd George, Sir John Williams och Sir Henry Jones. Hans landskap, både i Wales och under resor till Schweiz, Italien, Frankrike, Spanien, Marocko och Holland, var lika populära.
