Sanat Kumar Kar, en framstående indisk målare och grafikern, föddes den 29 juli 1935 i Shantiniketan, Indien. Hans konstnärliga resa tog form genom en djupgående utbildning, och år 1955 erhållit han sitt diplom i måleri från Government College of Arts and Crafts i Kolkata.
