V zlatých sutomách 18. storočia malo len málo umelcov schopnosť preziať diváka do sveta takého snovitého a exotického, akým bol svet Jean-Baptiste Pillement. Pillement, narodený v Nîmes v roku 1728, sa neobjavil len ako maliar, ale ako majster atmosféry, ktorý preplietal jemnú eleganciozn štýlu rokoka s hlbokou fascináciou vzdialeným a neznámo.
