William Blake Richmond a fost un pictor, sculptor și designer britanic de sticlă colorată și mozaic. Născut la Londra, în Regatul Unit, acesta era fiul pictorului de portrete George Richmond și al Juliei Tatham. Călătoria sa artistică a început prin meditații private acasă, fiind urmată de trei ani de studii de desen și pictură la Royal Academy of Art, începând în anul 1858. O perioadă esențială pentru dezvoltarea sa artistică a avut loc în timpul unei călătorii de șase săptămâni prin Italia, unde a avut privilegiul de a contempla capodopere ale Maștrilor Vechi, precum Michelangelo, Tintoretto și Giotto.
