Its monumental scale demanded contemplation and challenged viewers to confront the fundamental nature of perception.Formal Exploration: Bladen continued to refine his sculptural vocabulary throughout his career, experimenting with various materials – including bronze and granite – while maintaining a steadfast dedication to geometric abstraction . His sculptures often featured interlocking planes or stacked blocks, reflecting a deliberate effort to distill visual experience into its most essential components.Connections to Judd & Beyond: Bladen’s work resonated deeply with Donald Judd and other Minimalist artists who championed similar reductive approaches. Judd himself acknowledged Bladen's influence, recognizing him as a crucial precursor to the movement’s aesthetic ideals.
