Emilio Grau Sala (1911, Barcelona – 1975, Paris) was a Catalan painter whose artistic journey spanned from the formative years of Expressionism to the embrace of Parisian Impressionism and Maurice Boitel’s influence. Born in Barcelona during a period marked by political upheaval—the prelude to the Spanish Civil War—his early life instilled within him a profound appreciation for observation and emotional resonance, qualities that would permeate his entire oeuvre.
