After studying at Milan’s Domus Academy, his eponymous practice has sought to forge a bond between East and West, while addressing the flux between tradition and modernity.Chen has always considered design as a language rooted to a singular starting point and crafted by both history and culture. Inspired by the slow pace and tranquil atmosphere of his home city of Hangzhou, he channels this more relaxedrhythm into the creation of a concavebamboo stool. Blurring the linebetween old and new, the sumof these stratified bambooveneers produces acompact piece offurniture, alludingto the countless layersof influences that shapecontemporary design.
