A heavy silence settles over the canvas. The Archbishop sits in a three-quarter pose, his body angled slightly away while his gaze drifts toward the left of the frame. He is a man of shadows and stark light. The darkness of the background presses inward, forcing the viewer to focus on the pale, steady presence of his face and the pale grip of his hands. The portrait presents an elderly gentleman, captured in a bust-length composition that emphasizes psychological depth. Positioned slightly off-center, the subject gazes toward the viewer's left, creating an intimate, quiet connection.

  • Žinomos modelių asmenybės: Sir Alfredas East, Winifred Cavendish-Bentinck (Portlando kunigiene), Lady Louise Mountbatten (Švedijos karalienė), Vita Sackville-West, Apa Lejus XIII, Augusta Victoria (Vokietijos imperatorienė), Princess Alice of Battenberg ir daugybė kitų.
  • Apdovanojimai ir pripažinimas: 1909 m. karališkojo Viktorijos ordino (MVO) nariu paskirtas karaliaus Edvardu VII. 1912 m.
