Jan Jansz Wijnants – vardas, galbūt ne vis tiek iškart atpažįstamas kaip keletas jo samtempo kolegų, tačiau jis vis dennoch užima svarią vietą XVII amario olandų peizažistų panteone. 1632 m. Wijnants meno kelionė prasidėjo šeimoje, jau susijusioje su meno pasauliu; jo tėvas, Jan Wijnants, buvo katalikų meno prekybininkas, veikęs Haarleme. Šis šeimyninis ryšys neabejotinai suteikė ankstyvą susipažinimą su paveikslais ir paskatino vertinti vizualinę kultūrą. Wijnants menas demonstruoja įtraukiantį įtakų sąveiką. Nors tvirtai įsikibęs į realistiškos peizažo tapimo olandų tradiciją, jo darbas taip pat atskleidžia vertinimą dėl kompozicinio principo ir atmosferinių efektų, kurie buvo mėgstami itališkųjų meistrų.
