Curt Liebich: menininkas
The Academy and the Black Forest
Curt Liebich began his training within the halls of the academies in Berlin and Weimar. These studies provided him with the technical foundation needed to move between different forms of expression. He did not limit himself to a single medium, working instead as a painter, graphic artist, and sculptor.
In 1896, his path led him to Gutach. He remained in this part of Germany for the rest of his life. This landscape became the central focus of his creative output. His presence in the region was marked by his role as a co-founder of the Gutach painters' colony and his membership in the Free Artists' Association.
Life in Gutach
The rhythms of the Black Forest shaped much of what he produced. His work often captured the specificities of local life, such as the scene in s'Zwicke in Herrenbach, which depicts a farm in Gutach with young women working the land. He looked closely at these surroundings.
His career was defined by this steady connection to a single place. Through his paintings and sculptures, he recorded the details of the German countryside and its people. His life ended in Gutach in 1937, following decades of living and working within that same community.
