Like the Spaniard Julio Laffitte, Balmain trained with Molineux and Lelong and founded his own branch in 1945. From the beginning he coined what was the New Look, long , full skirts and narrow waists a silhouette that is represented in this coat. From then on Balmain would become one of the most prestigious brands of the golden age of French haute couture.
