Beyond his editorial contributions, Courtry was a prolific illustrator of literary works. His engravings accompanied notable texts, including L'Abbé Tigrane by Ferdinand Fabre and Scènes de la vie de bohème by Henry Murger. He also provided illustrations for Eugène Fromentin's travelogues, Une année dans le Sahara and Une année dans le Sahel.
